The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office is searching for female recruits.
Dozens of possible candidates attended an event Thursday at the county jail in Yaphank.
Local leaders tell News 12 they are attempting to increase women in law enforcement by 30% by 2030.
The sheriff’s office says there will be other future events to encourage women to join the ranks.
