Bridgeport absentee ballot case wraps up; judge to decide by next week
The absentee ballot case wrapped up Wednesday, and the judge says he will decide by next week whether to delay the Bridgeport mayoral election and call for a new Democratic primary.
Mayor Joe Ganim won the race against fellow Democrat Marilyn Moore thanks to absentee ballots that people mail in ahead of time.
But nearly a dozen voters testified that they had cast absentee ballots even though they didn't qualify for them. Others testified that someone else signed their ballot applications.
Attorneys for the city say none of that is enough to overturn a race that Ganim won by 270 votes. They said, "There are a lot of claims and not enough proof."
