An arrest has been made in the brutal assault and attempted rape that happened in Williamsburg last week.

Joshua Cruz was arraigned Friday. He is charged with assault, sex abuse and forcible touching.

Police say the 27-year-old approached a 46-year-old woman last Tuesday while she was walking to work, slammed her into the sidewalk and punched her repeatedly.

News 12 is told he also tried to take her pants off while she was laying on the ground.

The victim is in a medically induced coma at Brooklyn Hospital.
