Hastings-based school offers learning pods for parents worried about COVID-19

A Hastings-based school is offering learning pods for students and parents who are worried about heading back to the classroom during the coronavirus pandemic.
Cate Han, the founder of Hudson Lab School, says that it will also help parents worried about the isolation of virtual classes.
A preschool pod with a maximum of six children costs almost $17,000 a year. An elementary school pod with maximum of nine students will cost parents about the same.
With fewer students in a pod, it will cost more. Han says she acknowledges learning pods are deepening the education gap.
Parents will have two options when it comes to considering a pod. They can choose one that follows the curriculum of the Hudson Lab or one where they adopt the curriculum of the school their child currently attends.
Hudson Lab School officials say they also have a lot of scholarships available to families who would like to join a pod, but are not able to pay financially.
