Muralists from around the world use colorful art to symbolize positivity in Bridgeport
In a show of artistic expression, muralists from around the world are using their craft to help bring positivity and hope to Bridgeport.
The collection of artist studios, event spaces and a mural park are all part of a project called Knowlton Walls.
Organizers say it's a great way to promote Bridgeport's thriving art community while highlighting some of the most positive aspects of Bridgeport.
Along the banks of the Pequonnock River the word 'Hope' is spelled out in big bold letters as part of an effort to make the future bright.
"We have this amazing historic building," says Shiran Nicholson, the founder of The Knowlton.
Nicholson says The Knowlton is partnered with Art & Culture Together, the nonprofit heading up the project to create an outdoor mural park.
Mayor Joe Ganim joined Nicholson to view the artwork.
"I'd love to see this type of artwork, murals, all over the city," says Ganim. "Let's highlight it, let's highlight the beautiful artwork that we have and the people doing it."
Project curator John Paul O'Grodnick is an artist who says he enjoys working with lots of different colors to turn an old building into a beautiful mural.
Nicholson says the goal is to be the gatehouse to the art district of Bridgeport and let everyone know that the city is a thriving amazing community.
