Kaitlyn Bozzello had planned her best friend's bachelorette party at a house in the Hamptons for July and put down a 50% deposit -- $2,500. But now with travel fears, bride Christine Hoffman wants to cancel and asked StayMarquis, the company that manages the property, for a refund.

On the Airbnb website, the terms were clear. The group could only get back half of the rental cost, and they'd be out $2,500.

"We are just asking them to be accommodating at this point," said Hoffman.

Travel experts say airlines, hotels and other tour operators are easing restrictions given the pandemic. They recommend contacting companies directly to see if pre-paid travel can be turned into future travel credits.

A StayMarquis representative pointed News 12 to the company's COVID-19 policies online saying cancellation fees remained, but it would work to help individual clients with possible full refunds adding "…we fully understand the complications that this pandemic has brought to life. We will do our best to work with our owners to support your situation to the best of our ability."

That's not exactly what Hoffman wanted to hear, but she's holding out hope.

"I think that is a key word here is we are looking for a compromise," said Hoffman.
