Four police officers in Howell are now in self-quarantine after one of three men accused of trying to steal from a Lowe's said he had coronavirus.

Four police officers in Howell are now in self-quarantine after one of three men accused of trying to steal from a Lowe's said he had coronavirus.

Police received a report Tuesday around 2 p.m. of a shoplifting in progress at the Lowe's.
According to police, when they arrived, civilians had detained the three suspects who attempted to steal over $2,000 worth of power tools.
Police say store security had been made aware of the suspects after they recently targeted other stores.

All three were arrested and transported to headquarters, when the one suspect admitted to being positive for COVID-19.
All were charged with third-degree theft and released from headquarters.

The four officers have been placed on administrative leave and must abide by quarantine procedures. They will be out at least a week and pending tests results.
