Kim Kardashian, Billy Joel, other celebrities donate time, money to coronavirus-related causes
In this unprecedented time, many celebrities are using their star power and funds to help aid those affected by coronavirus.
Kim Kardashian, who with her shapewear company SKIMS, has pledged to donate $1 million in proceeds to families affected by the coronavirus.
Angelina Jolie has joined the fight against hunger during the coronavirus pandemic. Jolie donated $1 million to No Kid Hungry, an organization that helps feed children who rely on school lunches for their meals.
Billy Joel and the Joel Foundation say they will be making a series of donations to aid relief efforts for the coronavirus. Joel said the first donation is $500,000-worth of personal protective equipment to doctors and nurses in hospitals.
Recently, Rihanna announced she would also be donating $5 million-worth medical equipment like masks and gloves to medical professionals on the front lines.
“Real Housewives of New York City” star Bethenny Frankel is supplying more than 1 million masks to hospitals through her BStrong organization. She has also been raising funds to put together “BStrong corona kits” filled with medical supplies.
Some stars are also offering words of advice and encouragement. Lizzo sent a video recording to the team at Community Medical Center in Toms River, New Jersey thanking them for their extraordinary work as well as sending food.
