Officials: Woman in her late 70s first Milford resident to die from COVID-19

A woman in her late 70s has been identified as the first COVID-19 patient from Milford to die from the virus, officials say.

A woman in her late 70s has been identified as the first COVID-19 patient from Milford to die from the virus, officials say.  
According to Milford's health department, the victim was reported dead Tuesday.
Currently, there are 17 positive COVID-19 cases in Milford.
In a statement, Milford Mayor Ben Blake wrote, "On behalf of the City of Milford, I extend our deepest condolences to family and friends who are mourning this loss as COVID-19 continues to spread in our community. We must continue to come together and do our part as individuals and as a community to prevent the spread of this virus."
Milford health department officials say residents are encouraged to practice social distancing by avoiding gatherings of more than five people.  
Milford's city playgrounds, basketball, pickleball, and tennis courts, and the skate park have been closed in order to prevent close-space interaction among users, residents are instead encouraged to take advantage of Milford's open space, parks and walking trails
