F1 Mercedes team makes breathing aid out of CPAP technology
The Formula One branch of Mercedes is teaming up with other engineers to design a breathing aid for coronavirus patients.
The team reverse-engineered a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure machine, known as CPAP, used to treat sleep apnea, upgraded it and redesigned it for mass production.
The development could help reduce the need for ventilators.
Following clinical trials, Mercedes and other F1 teams could produce up to 1,000 of the devices per day.
