Brooklyn assemblyman calls on mayor to suspend meter parking rules amid coronavirus pandemic

Local leaders say they're concerned with the lack of parking some might be faced with as 100% of the work force is under orders to stay at home.
Assemblyman William Colton is calling on Mayor Bill de Blasio to take action and suspend meter parking rules. Alternate side parking has been suspended for the past week, and Colton says not doing the same for metered parking is forcing people to leave their homes, potentially exposing them to coronavirus.
He says ticketing affects many people, and that the metered parking is concerning for the vulnerable population.
Local leaders started a petition to make sure everyone can shelter in place without worrying about moving their cars.
