The Bridgeport Housing Authority has announced that the organization's staff offices are closed until further notice as the state continues to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
Executive Director James Slaughter says residents can pay their rents online or by mail and anybody expecting a loss of income should contact the management office by email.
"We will use electronic means, we will work remotely, we will do the necessary things that will provide, you know, safety for them and reduce the impact," Slaughter says. "And so it is a very difficult time but we're proceeding with the right precautions."
Officials are urging people to practice social distancing and to remember that rents are still due on-time and in full.
They say the maintenance staff will only handle emergency work orders until the viral crisis is over.
