New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said Saturday that a man who tested positive for coronavirus is an Uber driver who drives on Long Island.

The man is in his 30s and is currently hospitalized in Queens.

Uber said in a statement, "We have a dedicated team working closely with public health authorities and stand ready to help in any way."

The company said that once it was alerted, it removed the driver's access to the app. Uber says the driver was not an New York City-licensed driver, so he did not pick up passengers in the five boroughs.

It comes as Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency over the outbreak to help the response efforts. A total of 89 people in New York are confirmed to have coronavirus, Cuomo said Saturday.
