Man struck by car, killed while walking dog in Bay Ridge

A 66-year-old man walking his dog was struck and killed Thursday night in Bay Ridge, according to police.

A 66-year-old man walking his dog was struck and killed Thursday night in Bay Ridge, according to police.
Police tell News 12 it happened around 7 p.m. near Fourth Avenue and 101st Street. News 12 is told the driver remained at the scene.
Both City Councilman Justin Brannan and state Sen. Andre Gounardes tweeted about the incident, saying the person responsible was speeding.
They also said the victim was using a crosswalk at the time.
State Senator Andrew Gounardes released a statement that says in part, "?When are we going to wake up, slow down, and realize that we are literally killing each other to save a few minutes?"
There is no word if the person behind the wheel has been arrested at this time.
