The family of a Stamford man who was shot to death in Bridgeport marked what would have been his 37th birthday on Friday.

Max Antoine, 33, was shot and killed at McClevy Green in Bridgeport on April 20, 2017. Police said Antoine was an innocent bystander who was gunned down as he left a restaurant on Broad Street.

No arrests were made.

"It's just an empty feeling in my heart, in my bones, in my mind, in my soul not knowing the answers of what happened and why it happened," said Wilner Joseph, the victim’s brother.

He had a message for whoever pulled the trigger.

“You have to be really evil to go on day by day with your life, knowing that you took a man's life, you took him away from his family, his community, his children," said Joesph. “If you made a mistake, it's OK. Just come clean and say, ‘You know, I did it and I'm willing to take responsibility for my actions.’"

In August 2019, the family suffered a second tragic loss when Antoine's only son, 19-year-old Kymani Antoine, was killed in a car crash. With his loved ones undergoing so much grief, Joseph hopes his brother's killer will step up and do the right thing.

Police say they are still actively investigating the shooting and hope to make an arrest soon.
