The family of Fotis Dulos has released a statement following his death, defending him.
The statement says the family feels "let down" by the state "that pursued and harassed him and us relentlessly and with no mercy."
The family says they wanted to bury Fotis Dulos in Farmington, but feared "desecration of his grave." They say they will bring his remains to Greece and "bid farewell to a nation at war with its ideals."
The statement ends with the family saying they are bitter and that Fotis Dulos is innocent
Fotis' sister Rena sent out the statement on behalf of the family.
Rena calls out law enforcement, the media and the public, calling Dulos' death a "sickening farce."
Dulos was awaiting trial for the murder of his estranged wife, missing New Canaan mother Jennifer Dulos.
Police responded to Dulos' home in Farmington last Tuesday when he didn't show up to an emergency bond hearing.
He was found unresponsive in his car in his carbon monoxide-filled garage.
The realtor currently maintaining the property released photos that show the garage and Dulos' Chevy Suburban.
The pictures show damage to the garage door and the window first responders broke to get to Dulos in order to perform aid.

Dulos spent two days in a hyberbaric chamber at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx before he was pronounced dead.
His attorney Norm Pattis claims a suicide note declaring his innocence was found in his car after investigators conducted a search warrant.
Pattis released the note to News 12 which says in part, "I refuse to spend even an hour more in jail for something I had nothing to do with. Enough is enough."
In the note, Dulos also claims his co-defendants Michelle Troconis and Kent Mawhinney had nothing to do with Jennifer's disappearance.
Pattis has filed a motion to have the trial go on without Dulos, but with Dulos' estate as the defendant instead.

Pattis is expected to be in court on Friday.
Troconis is also due in court Friday and is expected to plead not guilty to a conspiracy to commit murder charge in connection to the disappearance of Jennifer.
