Hockey game to pay homage to former Yale player who lost her battle with cancer

Yale University is set to pay homage to a former hockey player who is remembered as one of the hardest working skaters on the ice.

The 10th annual 'White Out for Mandi' game honors Mandi Schwartz, who played for the Bulldogs from 2006 to 2008 before she lost her battle with cancer in 2011.

Saturday's game against rival Quinnipiac will also help raise awareness for the upcoming bone marrow drive in April.

Schwartz's former teammate Bray Ketchum trained is a friend, former teammate and director of the Mandi Schwartz Foundation. She says all proceeds from Saturday's game will go to the foundation.

"We never want to see a family go through what Mandi's family had to do. So the more we can spread awareness about how simple this process is, the better," says Ketchum

Schwartz's teammates say she was the hardest working skater on the ice and the kindest teammate off the ice. Her brother Jaden plays left wing for the defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues.
