Bronx program teaches students trade of masonry and restoration

The Woodlawn Bridges to Crafts Careers Preservation training program is a nine-week paid internship to teach students the trade of masonry and restoration right in the Bronx.
The program allows 18- to 24-year-olds to learn the trade of masonry and restoration so they can turn it into a career.
Students currently worked in restoration work at the Woodlawn Cemetery.
They learned to clean and repair all kinds of materials used for headstones, mausoleums and memorials.
Students also learn life skills, including how to save money and create a resume.
The program is funded in partnership through a grant with the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development.
