Posted: Updated:

Police are searching for a group of men who they say beat and robbed a man inside of an elevator in Morrisania earlier this month.

The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 13 inside a building elevator along Rogers Place and 163rd Street.

Police say three men got on the elevator and started to question the victim.

The 20-year-old victim told officers the men then pulled out a knife and a gun and started beating him with a baseball bat before they left with his cellphone and $10.

News 12 is told the victim was visiting a friend when he was assaulted.

The victim escaped and was treated for cuts on his head at a local hospital.

Authorities are offering a reward for any tips that may lead to an arrest and indictment.
