Police: 1-year-old taken by estranged father in Belmont returned home unharmed

A 1-year-old girl from Belmont who was taken unlawfully by her estranged father Saturday morning is now home safe, police say.
As News 12 previously reported, Kenneth Williams, 33, met up with the child's mother, Aaliyah Montanez, near 182nd Street and Third Avenue on Sunday. Montanez told police that he was dropping off Christmas presents, and that she brought their daughter, Kaylee Williams, down to the entry hallway of their apartment building to meet him.
Police say the child was unwrapping presents, and when Montanez looked away for a few seconds, Williams wrapped Kaylee in his coat and brought her out of the building.
Montanez told police she chased him, but he took off. Police say he was driving a dark blue Econoline van with dark tints and no license plates.
Family friends and Montanez tell News 12 that they've called the police on Williams in the past for standing on her fire escape and throwing bricks. They say police should've done something about Williams earlier.
Police say Kaylee Williams has since been returned to her mother by an unidentified individual.
Further details surrounding the return of the child were not immediately available.
