A music festival was held in Bensonhurst Sunday to celebrate talented children in the borough and encourage them to follow their dreams.
The Melodies of Broadway Exposition, organized by Brooklyn-based social club Aelita, was held at the Jewish Community Center of Bensonhurst.
The founder of the event says she holds festivals every few weeks to help bring people together - especially elderly members of the community and immigrants.
It also gives younger kids - especially those who come from immigrant families - a chance to show off their talents and learn about cultures from around the former Soviet Union.
Organizers say the goal is to give older people who are facing isolation and loneliness a chance to make friends, build community and bond with younger generations.
