Prosecutor: Man sent sexually explicit messages to undercover officer he thought was 14-year-old boy
A Wall Township man is facing criminal charges after prosecutors say he sent sexually explicit messages to an undercover police officer who he thought was a 14-year-old boy.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office says that 40-year-old Kenneth Megill used an online dating platform to communicate with a person he thought was a high school student. The prosecutor says that Megill requested that the “teen” send him nude photos.
Megill was charged with one count of third-degree attempted endangering the welfare of a child for debauching the morals of a child and one count of third-degree promoting obscenity to a minor.
Investigators say that they are seeking additional information about Megill’s alleged activities and the possibility that he communicated with other minors. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Anthony Lacher of the Wall Township Police Department at 732-449-4500 ext. 1186 or Detective Thomas Manzo of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-431-7160 ext. 3028.
