Thousands gathered in Manhattan Sunday for a march over the Brooklyn Bridge to denounce anti-Semitism.
Many organizations, elected officials and community leaders joined residents to rally in a solidarity march showing support for the Jewish community.
The march comes after the area saw a spike in anti-Semitic attacks over the past couple of weeks, including the stabbing in Monsey in Rockland County last week and the fatal shooting at a Kosher grocery store in Jersey City in December.
The violence prompted the United Jewish Appeal Federation of New York and Jewish Community Relations Council along with the Anti-Defamation League, American Jewish Committee and Board of Rabbis to organize this event.
Sunday's march was dubbed the No Hate, No Fear Solidarity March. It started at Foley Square and took protesters across the bridge for a rally at Cadman Plaza.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced he will make an addition $45 million available to go toward protection for non-public schools and places of worship.
On Saturday, Mayor Bill de Blasio made an appearance at a synagogue in Manhattan and said that it was important for communities across the city to stand united with the Jewish community to show that anti-Semitism will not be tolerated.
