A Fairfield police officer was honored for performing CPR on a 72-year-old man and saving his life back in October.

Lt. Jim Perez helped the man at Anytime Fitness in Fairfield. The man was rushed to St. Vincent's Medical Center, where doctors credit the officer's "quick thinking and expert action" with saving his life.

St. Vincent's Medical Center called Perez, "a sterling example of the emergency services system at work and a true credit to the Fairfield Police Department."
