Stew Leonard's hands out hundreds of Thanksgiving turkeys

Local first responders joined Stew Leonard's Thursday to help hand out hundreds of Thanksgiving turkeys to less fortunate families.
The annual Thanksgiving 'Turkey Birgade' charity event brought together Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling, local police and fire officials, as well as dozens of community groups and charities.
The event took place at Stew Leonard's in Norwalk, 100 Westport Ave. at 10:30 a.m.
Representatives of local soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and charities also participated in the event to form a human assembly line by loading up dozens of cars with frozen turkeys to be distributed to families in need around greater Bridgeport area.
St. Phillip's church in Norwalk says they will help distribute the turkeys so that those in need can have a Thanksgiving meal this year.
Mayor Rilling and Stew Leonard also pardoned Sonnie the turkey who will live out the rest of her life at a turkey farm.
