Linden man accused of setting fire to home, assaulting officer

A Linden man is accused of lighting his home on fire and assaulting a police officer.

The incident happened just before 11 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Chandler Avenue

The 23-year-old lit a mattress on fire, according to his family. Police say that man then assaulted an officer as he was trying to run.

The officer's injuries were not considered life-threatening. Another officer was treated for smoke inhalation, and a third officer had minor injuries.
