Gov. Ned Lamont announced Wednesday that Metro-North New Haven line trains will eliminate 4G wireless service "dead zones" within the next year.

Lamont made the announcement at the New Haven Union Station.

"Within a year, we'll have 4G service -- no blackouts along the way," said Lamont. "And within hopefully a couple of years, 5G -- the fastest internet access in the country, right here on Metro-North."

Lamont has been pitching his new CT2030 transportation plan, but even if that doesn't pass, he says he's committed to the one year timeline of getting 4G along the entire Metro-North line. 

Expanding cell service in Connecticut is rarely easy. The tower in Norwalk took 15 years to get approved. But thanks to a new law, carriers have much quicker access to state-owned property.
