Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and Bronx residents are getting ready.
The community showed up for the Mosholu Montefiore Community Center's first holiday drive of the season on Tuesday.
Organizers say at least 200 people showed up to the drive to collect their free Thanksgiving turkey. There were between 400 to 500 turkeys this year in addition to different holiday sides.
News 12 is told the center is trying to service its community base first but that the drive is open to all Bronx families. With more than 1,500 families registered for the food pantry, officials say they are trying to give at least one turkey to each family.
Last year's organizers tell News 12 they had to have a raffle because they didn't have enough turkeys. This year they're grateful they had enough donations to help out more families.
