One person is dead and another is in custody following a homicide investigation in Bethel, police say.
The incident happened Monday inside a home on Apollo Road.
Police say a woman returned home and found her son dead inside the house around 6:30 p.m.
They say she called 911 and believed her son had committed suicide. However, after police arrived, they determined the incident was related to a homicide and quickly identified a suspect.
The office of the chief medical examiner has confirmed that a man named Richard O'Dell died from gunshot wounds to the head, but police have not confirmed the victims name.
Bethel police say the suspect was taken into custody at a hotel in New Milford on different charges.
The New Milford Police Department say Matthew O'Dell is facing multiple charges, including threatening and carrying a gun with out a permit. New Milford Police released a mug shot of Matthew O'Dell with blood stains on his face and shirt.
Bethel police won't confirm that Matthew O'Dell is their homicide suspect, but does want the community to know it's an isolated incident.
Neighbors say that Matthew O'Dell is the brother of the victim, Richard O'Dell, but police have not confirmed that information.
The Bethel Police Department says they plan to make an arrest in this homicide case Tuesday or Wednesday.
