It's Halloween, and for one religion, the holiday means much more than a chance to dress up.
Wiccans at the Curious Goods Witchcraft Shop in West Haven tell News 12 that they celebrate Samhain, or the witch's new year on Oct. 31.
Wicca is an ancient, Earth-based religion, and Wiccans say their religion predates Christianity and incorporates pagan rituals.
A recent Pew Research Center survey found that about .4% of Americans identify themselves as Pagan or Wiccans. The study says over 1 million people in America say they practice Wicca, which is up significantly from an estimated 8,000 Wiccans in 1990.
