The New York Islanders have drafted a new Puppy with a Purpose for the 2019-20 season!
The pup is a female, 12-week-old Labrador Retriever. She will grow up to become a service dog through America's VetDogs, to one day assist a veteran or first responder with disabilities.
Just like last year, fans will have a chance to pick the dog's name. Click here to vote! Voting will run until Wednesday, Oct. 23 at noon and be announced Thursday, Oct. 24.

Guide Dog Foundation CEO John Miller, and the pup's handler Lisa Rossano, visited the News 12 studios with the adorable pooch!
The raising will last between 14-16 months. It will include training at Islanders facilities, games and community events.
The team picked the new puppy at the 4th annual 2020 Pucks and Paws Calendar photo shoot last week. The calendar will be available on Black Friday, and will benefit America's VetDogs.
It costs over $50,000 to breed, raise, train, and place one assistance dog. All of America's VetDogs' services are provided at no charge to the individual thanks to funding from individuals, corporations, and service and fraternal clubs.
