Jimmy Kimmel hosts live show in Brooklyn for 4th year

Posted: Updated:

Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel is preparing to air his show from Fort Greene in Brooklyn for a whole week.

This will be the fourth year that Kimmel has brought his show to Brooklyn.

"Bruce Springsteen will be on the show, Alicia Keys, Eddie Murphy, The National...we have really great announced guests,” Kimmel said.

Preparations are under way at the Brooklyn Academy of Music to host nearly 2,000 people for each taping next week.

The host, who was born and raised in Brooklyn until the age of 9, told News 12 that the people in the area make these special tapings something to look forward to each year.

“The people are just a funnier group of people. They're just more interesting in general,” Kimmel said.

Kimmel says he still has family and friends living in the borough.

“We've got a lot of cousins and extended family who live here,” he said. “They'll all come to the show at some point this week, so it's nice to be able to catch up with them and see them because they don't get to come out to L.A. much.”

Kimmel was tight-lipped about surprises the audience can expect at the show, which begins taping Monday.
