Briarcliff residents: Concerned for their safety on Route 9A

Route 9A is one of the area's busiest and dangerous roads in Briarcliff Manor. Bustling over 40,000 commuters daily, the accident-prone stretch from Briarcliff to Croton has residents concerned for their safety.

"Fire and police departments responded to 120 accidents on a 2-mile stretch in 2018 alone," says Briarcliff Manor Mayor Steve Vescio.

Mayor Vescio wrote a letter to the state Department of Transportation in July.

He asks for "assistance to relieve not only our Village but also the greater public of this outdated and dangerous stretch of roadway."

This would include rebuilding damaged railings and the Pleasantville Road Bridge over Route 9A.

The mayor encourages residents to voice their concerns through letters to elected officials in hopes of a reconstruction in the near future.
