A woman in Co-op City is turning her lifelong passion for baking into a growing business.
Britney Moss recently opened a storefront in the community where she lives.
"So the cake I’m actually making is a recipe from my great, great, great grandmother who was born in the 1800s. It's a vanilla brown sugar cake with a peach filling in between the layers," says Britney Moss, of Cupcake Me!
The family recipe is just one of many different kinds of sweet treats you can get at Cupcake Me!

"We're like your everyday event bakery. So when you walk into a lot of these events, baby showers, weddings, a lot of these events have custom dessert tables and that's pretty much what we specialize in,” says Moss.

It's an idea former hospitality worker Moss came up with three years ago after giving birth to her daughter.

"I was like you know what, I really want to step out of the limb before it's too late and I really want to spend time with my newborn daughter. So, I just jumped out on a leap of faith and on her first birthday party I created a giant cupcake cake and that's when the orders started rolling,” says Moss.

Now, the Bronx mom has her own spot in Co-op City where she lives, creating a variety of tasty flavors that change every couple of weeks.

"French vanilla, red velvet, strawberry cheesecake, lemonade vanilla. I like to keep things exciting and try things out,” says Moss. “And actually, the cool thing about our cupcakes, all these flavors can still be manifested into actual cakes for your events. Anything you want here I can do in a cake for you."
