Long Islanders are encouraged to leave their cars at home or at least drive it less today to mark the 7th Annual Car Free Day Long Island.
It's part of a national "go green" movement to use more sustainable travel choices.
Organizers say there are several benefits -- save money, get some extra exercise, and help reduce traffic.
Last year, more than 7,000 Long Islanders pledged to be car free.
It saved 73 tons of CO2 emissions.
