The driver accused of hitting and killing a Bronx toddler is out of jail Thursday morning after appearing before a judge Wednesday night.

The driver, 22-year-old Kier Boneparte, was learning how to drive when the car he was in slammed into a Bronx toddler in a stroller killing her Tuesday, according to investigators.

He appeared before a judge Wednesday, where he was arraigned on several charges including criminally negligent homicide, reckless driving, failing to yield to a pedestrian causing injury and operating a vehicle without a license.

The tragic accident killed 1-year-old Djeneba Magassa.  

News 12 is told Boneparte was getting a driving lesson practicing turns in the BMW SUV, that was not his. He was traveling northbound on White Plains Road and tried to turn onto East 215th Street when he lost control of the car crashing into a parked car before jumping the sidewalk and striking Magassa in her stroller. 

Initially, investigators thought Boneparte may have been intoxicated behind the wheel, but that’s not believed to be the case now.

News 12 is told Boneparte may have lived in the same building as the toddler. 

He is set to appear back in court on Oct. 8.
