A student in Wilton is accused of sending threatening messages over the social media app Snapchat.
Police say the threat was made against Middlebrook Middle School and was sent in a group Snapchat message Thursday night. Police say a student on the chat took a screenshot and showed it to her mom. The mom then called police.
Police say the whole thing unfolded around 11:30 p.m. Thursday. The student was brought in for questioning around 1 a.m. Friday. Police say the student claims he didn't mean it and that it wasn't meant to be carried out.
The superintendent sent an email to parents today to let them know about the incident and to ensure that there was no viable threat to the school or students.
The student is facing a threatening in the first degree charge and will appear in juvenile court.
