A woman was shot after a late night argument in front of an apartment building in Belmont Monday.

News 12 is told a 24-year-old woman was shot in the leg on Bassford Avenue between 182nd and 183rd streets just before 9 p.m.

Police say the woman got in an argument with the gunman before being shot. 

The victim initially told police she heard gunshots, then realized she had been shot.

She was taken to the hospital in stable condition and is expected to be OK.
