Suffolk police say they arrested eight people at a sobriety checkpoint overnight in Huntington Station.
The checkpoint was set up at Route 110 and Church Street.
It comes amid the nationwide crackdown known as "Saturation Saturday." Police across the Island are stepping up DWI patrol and checkpoints as part of the nationwide campaign.
Investigators say DWI arrests rise around this time of year because college students are back on campus and many people take vacations during the week before Labor Day.
