Firefighters responded to a home in Carle Place that caught fire Wednesday night after being struck by lightning, a fire official says.
While fire officials did not confirm the details, saying the cause of the fire was still under investigation, emergency and power crews were kept busy across Long Island responding to the remnants of Hurricane Barry throughout the evening.

Much of Long Island saw lightning, flooding and downed power lines.
PSEG Long Island says that more than 3,700 households were without power early Monday morning. By around 5:45 a.m., the number had fallen to 1,285 across the Island.
News 12 meteorologists say that hazy, humid conditions with a chance of thunderstorms remain on tap for Long Island into the weekend.
