Facebook event participants vow to ‘storm Area 51’ in search of aliens
Over 7,000 people have joined a Facebook event vowing to “storm Area 51” in search of extra-terrestrials.
The event is titled “Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us.” Thousands of people have responded that they are going to the event, and thousands more have said that they are “interested” in going.
The event’s organizers say, “We will all meet up at the Area 51 Alien Center tourist attraction and coordinate our entry. If we Naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Let’s see them aliens.”
“Naruto run” refers to an internet meme based on the Japanese anime series “Naruto,” where the title character is depicted as running with his arms pointed straight back and his head tilted forward.
Area 51 is a United States Air Force facility, which is part of the Edwards Air Force base in Nevada. Conspiracy theorists have claimed it to be a secret government facility housing aliens and alien technology.
The United States government has typically been tight-lipped about what goes on at the Area 51 facility. The Central Intelligence Agency declassified some information about Area 51 in 2013 as part of the Freedom of Information Act.
The Facebook event is scheduled for Sept. 20.
