The competition is fierce as eaters from around the world are preparing for the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest on the Fourth of July.

With mere hours until the competition, the participants came out for the official weigh-in Wednesday.

At 224 pounds, defending champion Joey Chestnut says he is ready to take on the field and smash his own record he set last year -- 74 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

"I think I can break the record - it's very likely it is going to go down tomorrow," says Chestnut. "I have motivation to not just push the record but push for the win."

On the women's side of things, defending champ Miki Sudo says she is mentally preparing for a fight. Sudo took the title in 2018 by eating 37 hot dogs.

"There could be four people or 40,000 people in front of me, and I just focus on the task at hand."

Nonetheless, contestants are excited to go for hot dog glory in front of a predicted 35,000 fans.
