Car flips, driver injured in crash on LIE in Hauppauge

Police say a driver was seriously injured after their vehicle flipped over on the Long Island Expressway.

In video obtained by News 12, the car can be seen in the woods after it rolled over repeatedly and ejected the driver.

The incident happened off the expressway between exits 55 and 56 around 12:30 a.m. in Hauppauge. All westbound lanes were closed at the time.

Police say the driver, Hugo Chavez, of Huntington Station, was airlifted with serious injuries.

A passenger, Chevez Rivaz, of Huntington Station, had minor injuries.
