An autopsy report has confirmed a man from New Jersey died of cardiac arrest in the Dominican Republic.
According to U.S. State Department officials, Joseph Allen, 55, of Avenel, died back on June 13 at the Tierra Linda Resort.
The preliminary autopsy report indicates his body did not show internal or external signs of violence.
Dominican Republic, as well as American, authorities, say Allen's death is not related to the other American tourists dying in the country in the last few weeks.
Allen's sister, Jamie Reed, tells News 12 her brother was in the Dominican Republic visiting friends.
Reed says Allen felt ill and decided to stay in. He was found dead in his room the next morning.
Allen is the eighth American tourist to die while on vacation on the island over the last several weeks.
