A dispute in Kingsbridge turned violent, leaving the victim in the hospital and the suspect on the run from police, missing part of one of his own fingers.
The dispute took place outside Keenan's Bar around 1 a.m. Tuesday.
Surveillance video shows the suspect getting into an argument with a 35-year-old man in front of the sports bar on Broadway.
It's unclear what the argument was about, but police say the suspect drew a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times in the back and arm.
News 12 is told he also partially cut off a piece of one of his own fingers during the scuffle. Police say they found the piece of the suspect's finger at the scene. The bar's owner tells News 12 one of his delivery men found the knife outside of the bar.
News 12 is told the victim was in stable condition and treated at the hospital.
Kingsbridge residents say they are shocked by the stabbing in front of a local Irish pub.
"I'm really surprised. I don't know what happened," says Stephen Ritz. "I know that the neighborhood is really wonderful and safe."
The bar's owner spoke with News 12, saying he thinks the area needs more of a police presence during the week.
Police say the suspect fled and describe him as being in his 20s with a beard and tattoos on his right arm.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
