UPDATE: Community Board 10 says the building sale to Carnegie Hill Institute has been rejected.
Community members gathered with Community Board 10 and a representative from Carnegie Hill Institute Tuesday night to discuss the possibility of opening another substance abuse facility in the area.
If approved, the facility would be located at 3134 East Tremont Ave.
The facility would be operated by Carnegie Hill Institute, which specializes in treating those suffering from chemical dependencies.
Many Bronx residents say that they agree treatment facilities are necessary but similar facilities already available in the area. They say they don't need another one, especially between a Sylvan Learning Center and a facility for children with autism.
The institute said they did not yet purchase the location but cannot confirm at this time whether or not they will continue to move forward after great community opposition.
