A Central Islip woman killed her mother inside their home Tuesday morning, according to police.
They say Sharon Easter called 911 shortly after 8 a.m., telling the operator she killed her mother inside a Cocoanut Street home.
Responding officers found that 76-year-old Dorothy Easter appeared to have been strangled.
There's no word on a motive.
Neighbor Helena Humphrey has known the Easters for about 20 years. She says Sharon appeared to have mental health issues and that police were called to the house several times over the years. She describes the mother as a quiet and friendly woman.
Sharon Easter, 57, will be arraigned Wednesday in Central Islip court on a second-degree murder charge.
