Prosecutors: Ridgefield man dies from injuries sustained in house explosion

A Ridgefield man whose house exploded Monday has died, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Mark Schelleck, 48, was inside the home when it was leveled in the blast. Police had to pull him from the debris. He died Tuesday morning.
Authorities say the explosion leveled the Abbot Avenue home around 11:30 a.m. Monday and sent debris flying within a three-block radius.
Neighbors tell News 12 New Jersey that Schelleck lived alone and suffered burns and a laceration before being taken to the hospital.
"There was a big boom and I thought something dropped on top of my house, a plane or I didn't know what it was, but it was so loud," says neighbor Lisa Calabria.
Debris landed on Calabria's home and new car.
Officials are still trying to figure out the cause of the explosion. They say there was a gas leak but they're unsure if it was before or after the fire.
The prosecutor's office said in a statement, "PSE&G conducted a pressure test and concluded that there were not any leaks in the gas line spanning from the street to the home, indicating that the explosion was exclusive to an event within the residence."
PSE&G put out a statement Tuesday afternoon saying it was not on Abbot Avenue Monday when the explosion happened.
