The MTA is proposing new changes that will redesign several local bus routes, but some are voicing their concerns about the plan and the elimination of bus stops along the BX42.
The BX42 in Throgs Neck could be one of the bus routes that will be reconfigured and shortened in a goal to speed up bus service for Bronx commuters.
Rider Anthony Ferreira, who catches the bus at the intersection of Hosmer and Harding avenues, say he is all for speedy service but without the cuts.
He anticipates the proposed BX42 route redesign will mean six more blocks on Hosmer Avenue to the nearest bus stop, which will be an inconvenience for him.  Ferreira says it will also take a toll on the mostly elderly community.
"I don't want to be a prisoner in the house because the MTA is denying me service," says the 71-year-old.
The MTA is holding public meetings throughout the month of June to get feedback on its proposal. Concerned commuters say they will be making sure they get their voices heard.
News 12 reached out to the MTA on riders’ concerns, but is waiting to hear back.
