Hempstead students, police celebrate end of school year

Hempstead students and their police mentors on Monday celebrated the end of the school year.

Hempstead village police hosted a party for the fourth graders from Jackson Main and David Paterson elementary schools.

Officers have been meeting with students every month since September.

The department hopes it can expand the program to all fourth grade classes in the district next year.
